Skate Park at the Forks

Built by: PCL Construction

Description and Solution:
All-Fab was challenged by PCL Construction to design a curved truss to create the sides of the skate bowl. Sole conditions and tight schedules posed further challenges. Trusses were designed so that once 2 rows of strapping were applied, the plywood deck would create a continuous smooth curved platform for the nearly 100 lbs./sq.ft. of concrete and rebar that make up the bowl surface and that they be trimmable to allow for any imperfections in the concrete. The skate bowl consists of 270 trusses and 46 designs. The bowl was framed, sheathed and had rebar fastened and concrete poured in less than 4 weeks.
